According to Mr. Perkins, while social conservatives believe in limited government they also believe government should reflect a moral standard. While believing in the separation of church and state, they also believe that does not mean separation from religion and society. In this second section, Mr. Perkins details the many worldviews of voters today that define our polity – at one end, one emphasizes God over Man and moral truths, and the other that replaces God with “philosophy” and supports a more secularized society. Perkins argues that history proves a reverence to God has played a role in society since the Founding, and that social issues reflecting the family, life, churches, communities and schools, are necessary for liberty to exist today.
