In this second session, progressives and conservatives are contrasted first in what they believe about nature, order, equality, and liberty, and then how those beliefs are implemented in the practice of governing. Dr. Spalding uses the 1912 presidential election of Woodrow Wilson – an early and important leader of the progressive movement, to illustrate progressive ideology and their objectives. At every point it is shown that progressivism leads toward centralized control of society in the name of “progress.”
