Are We on the
Road to Serfdom?

Questions to Think About

These issues are deep and wide.  They make us consider things at a very fundamental level, which means we have to think deeply about them:  seeking out the primary ideas and principles, and then applying them to the issues at hand.  And when we start applying them, there seems to be no end to how wide or broad the scope of the discussion can go.  But think about them, and discuss them, we must.  And we start with some basic questions.

  1. Is social planning possible?  Why or why not?
  2. How do Hayek’s warnings apply to our current American situation?
  3. What possible objections do you think folks would have to Hayek’s arguments and how would you deal with those objections?
  4. How does Hayek’s points inform a citizen in the voting booth?
