Is There a Cure
for Poverty?

Conclusion

The preceding sections have given quite a bit of information. Most of it comes from the Judeo-Christian view that all men are made in the image of God. It is the tradition of the U.S. Presidents to host an annual prayer breakfast that focuses on the needs of our nation and the world. Normally the invited speaker is a well-known religious figure who delivers some form of a sermon. A few years ago, however, a different type of “preacher” was invited to speak. View the following excerpts from the speech given by Bono (Paul Hewson of U2 fame). While his views on Christianity might not always be orthodox, his words here offer a fitting invitation to action at the end of this course.

What are you doing about poverty? What are you going to do? When are you going to start? Poverty can become history, with your active help.
