“Liberal feminism sees all people as equal, therefore there should be equality for all. They see sexism as dysfunctional because it deprives society of one-half of its creative work force. Oppression exists because of our socialization process.”
Liberal feminism views most of feminist oppression to be legal. They emphasize legislative solutions that would provide for equal pay and equal treatment in the workplace and society through gender law. This view primarily focuses on women’s ability to show and maintain their equality through their own actions and choices. Liberal feminists argue that our society holds the false belief that women are, by nature, less intellectually and physically capable than men, it tends to discriminate against women in the academy, the forum, and the marketplace.
To articulate this position, the following video is presented from Naomi Wolf, discussing her part in the “Third Wave” of feminism.
