The term “philosophy” often scares people. Perhaps this is because it encompasses all of life, or maybe it is because studying philosophy often entails reading some very difficult books. But philosophy is not something to be feared. Each of us has a philosophy of life (sometimes talked about in terms of worldview). Each of us has certain principles that dictate how we ought to live life. Some of us consider and order these principles a great deal; others of us rarely think about them. Nonetheless, they are there.
In this course, John Stonestreet, President of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, will ask you to examine your philosophy of life. A popular speaker at camps, conventions, and conferences, he works annually with thousands of parents, teachers, and students on developing a biblical worldview, understanding comparative worldviews, defending the Christian faith, applying a biblical worldview to education, and engaging important cultural issues. He is a Fellow of the Wilberforce Fellows (a division of Breakpoint) and is the co-author with W. Gary Phillips and William E. Brown of Making Sense of Your World: A Biblical Worldview.
This Thinker Education course experience is a selection of lessons from Stonestreet’s more comprehensive course, Comparative Worldviews, provided for college credit at our partner’s website, www.collegeplus.org. If you like this course, consider signing up for Stonestreet’s full course (more information is given at the end). As a thoughtful student, remember to be humble, think critically, and ask yourself the hard questions as you consider your own worldview.
