James 1:27 says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” This verse and its implications are what prompted Tom Davis to write Red Letters: Living a Faith That Bleeds—to encourage Christ followers to reach out to the widows and the orphans with the love of Jesus.
