Is Wisdom
Attainable?

Conclusion

Did you gain anything by journeying through these classic “teaching stories” from the wisdom tradition, spanning ages and cultures very different from our own?  After listening to these recordings from Jim Weiss, have you changed your opinion on wisdom?

In the Hebrew Scriptures (Jeremiah 6:16), the Prophet says to the people:

“Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

Do you think that society’s perception of wisdom is the same today as it was a hundred years ago, much less two thousand years ago?

Socrates famously observed that “Wisdom begins in wonder.”  By completing this course experience you have demonstrated, in a small way, that sense of wonder.  We hope you continue to ask questions about wisdom.

Perhaps you will choose to champion The Wisdom Tradition, in opposition to those who teach that wise and unwise choices are merely subjective, that all ways make for equally good paths, and that the ancient paths should be avoided in pursuit of “a new and better way.”
