How Can You Best
Steward Your Treasure?

Importance of Stewarding Treasure

God not only models an attitude of generosity, but He also commands us to be good stewards. As mentioned in our first course on stewardship, Jesus talks most about stewardship of treasure. In fact, there are 2,350 verses in the Bible that deal with stewardship of money and possessions. Because our relationship with money has such a direct impact on our relationship with God, it is vital that we heed His instructions:

“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (Luke 16:11)

It is also important to continually remind ourselves what God has done for us and of the truth that He owns everything. Consider this passage from 1 Chronicles:

“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.”

(1 Chronicles 29:11-12)

Reflect on these two passages for a moment, and consider the importance of stewarding your treasure well. Then to help frame our discussion, watch the following videos focusing on the generosity aspect of stewardship.
