Are We Experiencing a
Free People's Suicide?

Dangers to Freedom

Our founders attempted, as Guinness says, “to use history to defy history.” Prior to the United States, no government had ever been able to bring a sustainable form of freedom to its people. However, the United States of America is still free, long after many believed it would fall. In this part of his presentation, Guinness states the historical dangers to freedom, focusing on what Cicero and Polybius taught our founders. He states that three things can take our freedom: an outside menace, the internal corruption of our customs (or the loss of moral standards), and the simple march of time.
